A fisheries observer’s model as a tool for sustainable management of the marine trawl fishing in Cameroon

Since, the mid fifties with opening of industrial trawl fishery in Cameroon, data collection system is based on landings and vessel captains’ statements logbooks, difficult to use for stock assessment purpose thus proper management. Various stocks assessments surveys conducted, show an overexploitation costal resource decrease base (Meke, 2015). Besides, country threatened by a self-ban shrimp’s exports EU countries since 2006 yellow card due INN fishing issues 2021. This paper examines suggest fisheries monitoring model industry. Findings study indicate that boarding observers vessels at sea will close gap necessary effective management.The recommends Cameroon management authorities adopt model.
